IFCM- The International Foundation For Carnatic Music

IFCM was incorporated in the USA in 1997 as an independent non-profit organisation. Since then it has steadily expanded and now has chapters in San Diego, Pittsburgh and Austin.

IFCM-USA has conducted workshops and courses by Sangeeta Kalanidhi T K Govinda Rao and Ravikiran in Philadelphia, San Jose, Washington DC and Atlanta. Workshops include:

· Saptaratnas of Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi (Houston, Dallas, Pittsuburgh, Austin, Sacramento)

· Pancharatnas of Tyagaraja (Philadelphia)

Centres for Musical Excellence have been set up in Buffalo and Austin.

Concerts and lectures are also occasionally organised featuring eminent artistes on themes like ragam tanam pallavi.

Taking it further, IFCM-USA has introduced Carnatic music to hitherto unexplored areas by collaborating with corporate entities such as Lucent Technologies in USA.

With a Board of Directors that includes Ram Mouli, Ramana Kanumalla, Jaisimha Durgam and Uday Shankar, the IFCM-USA intends to initiate steps to create Departments of Carnatic music in major Universities. It will also focus on opening more Centres for Musical Excellence in other cities with competent teachers apart from conducting more camps & workshops. Teachers with a minimum experience of 5 years that are interested in applying for faculty positions may email IFCM .
