Musicians' Benevolent Fund
Music is a field where regular and assured income during the life span of an artiste is not guaranteed. Moreover, unlike employees in the organised sector artistes do not enjoy retirement benefits
like Gratuity and Superannuation. To address these issues IFCM created the Musicians' Benevolent Fund (MBF) Scheme in 1994. Aimed at recognising the lifetime contributions of musicians with
substantial financial awards and rewards and giving aids to talented students of music, the MBF has blazed a trail and set new standards
in the area of honouring artistes. Stalwarts like Calcutta Krishnamoorthy, Srirangam Krishnamoorty Rao, Tanjavur Shankara Iyer, Kumaraswami Iyer and Vairamangalam Lakshminarayanan have been
honoured in this scheme. Many other deserving artistes have been felicitated with the IFCM Gold Medal for Excellence and IFCM Merit Certificates.

Music Camps
IFCM regularly conducts camps and courses on Carnatic music led by expert musicians and teachers as detailed in the Education and IFCM-USA pages. The latest was the 3 week camp by Ravikiran and Akkarai Shubhalakshmi at San Diego, USA in July 2006. Prior to that, the IFCM presented a 3 day camp for nearly 40,000 rural children in Tamil Nadu, India, in May 2006 in collaboration with the ILO and Sarva Siksha Abhyan.
Other Activities
Though the IFCM has consciously tried to steer clear of activities that are synonymous with music organisations, it has, at times, organised public events. A case in point is the 10-day Navaratri 92 Festival, arguably the first of its kind in Madras, in Sept-Oct 1992. In 1997, a unique Question-Answer session in collaboration with Hamsadhwani, received wide acclaim.
